Who wants to guess what I've just been quoted to paint my house. We're talking about a tiny wee 2 bed semi. Nothing fancy. Timber garage doors. 2 storeys. 2 doors, 3 timber windows (rest are pvc).
Any guesses??
(I've only just recovered from the shock)
Deek
I should be a painter!!!
It's in a really bad way though - a lot of timber needs cutting out and replacing - everything needs striping right back. I don't think it's been painted for many, many years.
Unfortunately, I just don't have the time to do it myself. I wish I did.
You can tell painters are rolling in it round this way as this is the only one that I could actually get out to give a quote -- the others made (in one cases several) appointments and never bothered to turn up.

Sounds expensive but you have timber frames, if it's done properly the painters would need to strip it back - undercoat - topcoat, not an easy job I've done it and it's painfully boring - even if your getting paid.
Personally I'd do it myself as I know I'm gonna do a good job, plus your investing in your house so you're going to get the return in value when you come to sell - but loose a few G as you drive your GTi out the showroom.
However, shop around for the best quote and always go on friends recommendations and make sure you see receipts for the materials used, they may tell you they've used Dulux but actually slap B&Q's finest on the window frames.

yes but imagine if you had a kid and they came home and started to swear. how would you feel? you have to remember that theis forum is in the public domain. so we have a choice. we can either put an age limit on the site that would need some kind of verification (i.e. credit card) or you can use your imagination as to what i replaced with the word urinate
