Always be carefull with information in Haynes - good example on 24V DOHC Vauxhal engines is they stipulate that the exhaust cam is an inlet cam and the inlet cam is an exhaust cam for a lot of german cars!!! Basicly the error comes about cos one cam has E on it and the other has A - they assume E = exhaust - it's not!!!MadManMike wrote:It's your average drivers bible I reckon!

Where did you take it? I've got a few scratches that I'd like sorting out, will any bodywork shop be able to sort them out?![]()
Woopsie
With great consistance I make myself look an arse in this forum haha!
*changes name*
Cheers mate
the older manuals seem much better with better desriptions and images of how stuff goes together!
for example, polo mk3 steering columb surround - remove three screws from undernieth, unclip! how the hell do you unclip it then? obviously we found out by doing it but it wasn't very clear at all!
sorry for the lame example!

yeah the mk3 manual is a puddle of white smelly stuff
unfortunately it's about the best i personally have to hand apart from this place and occasionally porka. was going to invest in a mk2 one as well, but i think having to pick through the two and try to figure out which of two different and alternately patchy methods was the best might drive one mad.
it's completely lacking in any decent information on e.g. dealing with gearbox oil, and a few other things.
What's a Russek manual then? And indeed what other alternatives are there, as Haynes is easily the best known and most common, surely it can't have the monopoly but it's making like microsoft on a computer.
