The Viking Run 28/08/05 (kent) **now with Pics**

Post by SpikeyG40 »

hey all, this is an update from the south east meet feeler. just incase anyone gets confused i thought i would put here exactly what the plan is!

meet up in sainsbury's car park in whitstable at around 10.30 - 11am. leave at about 11-11.30 and cruise on down to thanet, convoy through margate and on to ramsgate and then to a picnic site (via a long tunnel!) at pegwell bay! a small charge of arond £3 per car in needed to park up on the site.

from there, we can chill out, play games, have a picnic and chat about cars or what ever you want to chat about! *sorry, no BBQ's*

so, can people interested please add your names to the list so i can inform the picnic site of how many to expect!

i can give direction to and from the area so you should all no where your going. sainsbury's in whitstable is nice and easy to get to so i thought that would be a good place to start!

Add to list:
Doug (G40)
Dan (Ibiza sport)
Ruari (GC - mk2 squareback)
Yolmol (mk3 GT)
Joeg40 (G40)
joeg40's mate (G40)
adrian_mk3 (mk3 GT)
James0121 (6n)
Sidaba (9n GT) (+2 Guests)

The Viking Run 28/08/05 (kent) UPDATED!

Post by SpikeyG40 »

actually, it was joeg40 who said u were coming so i added you to the list!

anyway, i hope we're all still up for the meet up!

i now have directions for you so you can make it to the whitstable sainsbury's from the M2!

they are as follows:

follow M2 coast bound until the end.
get in the outside lane sign posted A299 margate/ramsgate. follow A299 past the travel lodge
turn off at junction with A2990 signposted whitstable
@ roundabout take second exit following A2990
@ roundabout (long reach public house nearby) get into outside lane and take the second exit following A2990
@ roundabout take second exit continuing along A2990
just before the next roundabout you should see signposts for superstore, or sainsbury's or summit like that, take third exit and nearly imediatly take the left hand turn into sainsbury's carpark!

i hope thats of some help for you all!

as for tines u reckon we should be leaving sainsbury's carpark when we reckon everyone has turned up at roughly 11 - 11.30! then we'll get back onto the A299 thanet way and cruise on through margate, ramsgate and onto the picnic site!

remember, bring your own food unless you want to buy stuff at the refreshements place but idon't know what they do!

then we can chill, chat and generally have a laugh!

obviously forum rules on meets and shows apply with no burnouts ect. and as i have mentioned several times, we unfortunatly can't have BBQ's also they is a small charge or around £3 per car for using the site so make sure u bring some change! :P

if you are bringing gf's or that sort, there are a couple of places nearby where they can go shopping or whatever if they fancy it!

please PM me if you need any more info!

look forward to meeting everyone on sunday
regards

Just to confirm I'll be coming tomorrow, in case the M25 is as much of a car park as it was when I spent 3 hours on it last week ;) Look forward to seeing everyone.

Good to see everyone, hope everyone got back safely.
For anyone wondering, I did make it back despite the gearbox problems.. these problems turned out to be due to the fact that I had neglected to put any oil in the box whatsoever. I feel really, really stupid. Still, it's running alright after I stuck 2 litres of cheap diesel engine oil in it at a service station near dartford, so there's the power of german engineering for you :D

Ah yes.. finding the battery was flat having just realised the engine had no oil in it and just before I realised the gearbox was absolutely bone dry. All in all it was a good day for my car
