Wiper Blades

Post by jmk1 »

Wiper Blade marks on windscreen can't seem to polish them out.

The actual blades themselves seem to be ok.

Anyone any suggestions?.

Are they scratches or just dirt marks?

How old is your car?

Wiper Blade marks

Post by jmk1 »

The cars nearly 10 years old It's definitely not dirt.

The marks are not scratches as such.

The best way i can describe them they are like impressions left by the

blades as they travel across a dry windscreen.

like lines on the same line and arc of the blade travel.

Im not sure how to get rid but have you tried a proper glass cleaner? I use autoglym car glass polish - leaves you thinking there is no glass!!

In your case it may just be down to 10 years of wiping has left its un-removable mark. As it is in a unwipable area

Sorry I probably didn't explain or describe the problem very well.

The marks are tracking marks left by the wiper blades.

I tried Autoglym glass polish without success.

Perhaps as you say it may well be the result of 10 years of wiping

in the same place over and over again.

Thank you for your help.

Are the marks actually in the area that is wiped by the wiper?

Yes they are. Mostly towards the top of the Blade. They are definitely

made by the blades , the marks follow the arc or sweep of the blades.

Sounds like some sort of mild scratching of the glass perhaps, or is dirt but so ground and bonded to the glass, its being tough to come off?

Perhaps if scratches, they could be filled at some windscreen place or perhaps a new windscreen on the insurance

Guess depends on how they restrict your view or how annoying it is

Without seeing it i'd say they are very fine scratches from bits of grit that have got stuck under the blade ffrom the road. I have a fw on mine - very annoying but on the passenger side thankfuly!
