English bank Holidays? I remember them...

Seriously - I was planning to drive down to check on the house I'm still selling in Loughborough and hadn't realised it was a holiday for you guys this weekend. I'll give the driving a miss, I think...

I might go for a hack up the A82 instead, though - so that's a bonus.

Was hoping to be driving my GTi but I now can't pick it up until next Friday, because it's a bank holiday on Monday and I'm on a course Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday

Not a long weekend for me. :(

I had mine 13-15 August... Gotta love long weekends though. In fact, I think all weekends should include Monday, I for one am a lot more productive after a 3-day break!

Hmmm....

Friday: Had the hangover from all hell, walking slowly round edinburgh with pals trying not to hurl in search of a shop that sells gaviscon (if my internal biology is anything like my dads - and most of it seems to be i.e. built by bloody leyland - it's the only thing that will halt alcohol induced reflux and chucking). Recovered thanks to minty custard goodness. Did some shopping and watched a show. Flew back to brum on the smallest FlyBe plane ever (about 60 seats, twin turboprop), ate fibrous greenstuff for first time in five days, collapsed on sofa.

Saturday: Finally dragged self awake about noon, had long awaited shower/shave, and backed up 680mb worth of photos to PC from SD card, camera internal memory, and mp3 player (it having USB "host" function = godsend). Went to supervisor's (from work ... nice people) BBQ-party. In worcester. Already cruddy 35 mile slog made worse by needing petrol, forgetting wallet, and still feeling like death. Bombed down M5 in astra with loud pedal firmly clamped, feeling double pain of bank account being sucked dry and big brother's bale eye (those 550 extra cc's over the polo making their worth known). Should have been there at 1.30... arrived about 4..
Had a nice time, ended up as one of the final survivors thanks to sticking mostly to the lemonade and salad, trying to detox. Left at 12.30. Wafted home trying to make up some economy, stuck to A38 instead of motorway just to enforce that. Ended up here doing this.

Sunday: Not sure. More chilling/sleeping/recovery. Tidying up bedroom, sorting papers, cleaning out both cars, trying to remove 5000 miles of cack and brake dust from astra's alloys with cleaning kit. Going over weeks worth of fringe photos. Try not to puke when arriving at pictures showing the dirty pints we made each other (tennents + aniseed balls may taste nice, but the feeling doesnt last). Finish writing up a report for work.

Monday: Er, hm, really hadnt thought that far ahead. Sunbathing and listening to music with a few bottles of bud, hopefully. Might weigh up the pros and cons of doing the gearbox on the polo vs just chucking six months tax on it and selling it to someone prepared to deal with either fixing it or driving it in that state.
