The speedster interests me - I guess we'll just have to wait to see what the performance will be like, now that they've dropped the superchargers for turbos.

Deek.

Never been a fan of the "new" Mini... or should I say the "completely nothing like the original mini" Largie.

They are massive compared, look nothing like the original, have no character and... well it's personal taste I guess, but they look like generic bubble cars to me.

If they can make extreme power figures I may like them, but nothing stands out for me.

I'd much rather have a 90's Cooper in black with white stripes.

EDIT: The clubman will be interesting to see, maybe a new version will look better? Who knows.

There are pics of all the new variants in the current auto express..... If i remember correctly the roadster is just the cabrio but with a removable hardtop.....

The clubman was an estate but with backward opening rear doors, (rx-8 style), and double doors (transit van style) back doors.......

The two seater van/pick-up looks pretty smart too..... All those little business will be getting one just to up their image for sure.

Cheers

what really gets me that they're continuing to buck 40 years of design evolution in favour of the antiquated nonsense that issignosis used because it was simply the best ideas they'd yet had, and the bodged together later ideas thrown in there by morris...

mainly i'm talking about the arse end, vis a vis the bottom-hinged saloon-type boot (on something with a hatchback shape) and the transit-style double doors on something far too narrow and low to properly suit them.

almost everyone else is using a hatch type tailgate, or in the case of estates/4x4s, a hatch or single swing door, not to be trendy but because it's been regularly proved as the most practical, easy to use and best use of space, particularly for that size of car and body plan.

putting those less practical shapes on the mini (why the double doors, other than that the original mini clubman / minor travellers had them?) simply for history's sake - the car itself having little enough of the original in it, besides the name, being roundly ignored for some reason - is just silly. I mean, they're touting a 5 door version .... that's not an original mini "thing" now, is it? Neither is an engine larger than 1275cc... What's next, a gearbox integrated into the sump, 12 inch wheels and gas-ball suspension?
