Induction Kit
Anyone running an induction kit on a spi?? I have a 1.3cl with a pipercross filter but its one of the bolt on filters that replaces the 'frying pan' air box.
I have seen pics of the same engine but with a different airbox fitted and a filter such as jetex.
What air box or pipe is it I need to fit to be able to use a typical induction kit??
Cheers!!

You will neeed some stud adapters from the Passat or Golf, otherwise it fits straight on where the three nuts are located in the dustbin lid airbox.
Just thinking, your friend doesn't mean a Jetex panel filter does he? That won't fit as the G40/GT has a square airbox, and its designed for use in standard GT/G40 airboxs.
Karl.

stud adaptors??Karl_CLCoupe wrote:You will neeed some stud adapters from the Passat or Golf,
have u taken the studding out that holds the standard polo box on or is there something that fits onto the studding??
on my old 1ltre i couldn't remove the studding so constructed a way to fit the airbox on without touching the studding or original set up!
just for reference, here is pic of my set up

this set up was off a mk3 golf and the breather for the crank case was on the oposite side meaning i had to modify the pipework for the breather to fit! not a big issue, couple of 90 degree bends and some flexy hosing!
there is a better air box which i have one at home of, it has the breather in the correct place and had the correct sensor thingy in it (the orange thing) if u need it, i can probably get the part number off it and take some pics!
regards
Doug

To take the original studs out, screw two 10mm nuts onto the studs and tighten them together. Then using a 10mm socket/spanner unsrew the bottom nut.
If both nuts are locked together tight enough instead of just the nut coming off it unscrews the whole stud.
Then just screw in the new studs that come with the passat/golf spi box.
Its easy a 5 minute job
