Long Term Project cars

Just wondering if anyone else is getting bogged down at the moment with their project cars? i've got three on the go at the moment and have done hardly anything to any of them in the last few weeks. almost considering breaking one of them up for bits rather than tidying it up to sell

G - Spraying on drivers door and tailgate
Gt - General tidying to sell (considering breaking it now

)
Golf gti - Had engine change at local garage, who seem to have fudged the gearbox up in the process

(been there about 4 months

)

If your selling the GT I'd concentrate on getting that sorted, then you'll have one less car to worry about.

It's a PITA having 4 or 5, even 6 cars on the go, especially when they all due mot/tax at the same time.

Then get your G sorted, that'll make you happy being your daily ride. Then get onto the golf as a project car, you'll have plenty of time and space to mess about with it yourself then.

i dont realli no where to start on mine. i want to make the body clean so then i cud modify it how i like, but its where to start init.....its got rust dotted around everywhere, and i cant afford a respray. i like the rat-look but sometimes i jus wish my hard work cud b seen a little more.

I've got 5/6 "Try to keep it on the road" projects, of which 2/3 tend to be on the road at any one time.

A short term 180-200bhp Eaton'd G40 Cup Race Car that'll get fully up and running by the end of this month.

A not so short term 250bhp G40 Turbo Race Car project, that is nearly up and running.

I'm finally starting to get my arse in gear with my blue GT. It's been about two years since it's been on the road. I've steadily been gathering parts, but it had been sat doing nothing for ages. Now things will be moving on....

aye, spent the last few weeks just finishing everything off, getting everything just right for the respray, hope its all worth it at the end of the day. Still got 2 weekends work left at least i'd say, after that it should be all smiles

the derby will be a long term project. Full resto at some point and probably a slightly more modern engine but I havent decided what yet. At the moment im thinking HK engine with NZ injection and HH/GK cam. (best standard polo cam ever

) HK is the newest of the mechanical head engines, Id sooner have one of these over a newer engine so it looks more factory. And NZ injection would mean I can use a Vacuum advance Dizzy.

My GT should be "finished" fairly soon, Ive had the parts to finish the suspension for over 6 months but Ive been too lazy to do it. Just needs the front suspension doing and thats it for now.

i still haven't got round to sorting the old blue mk3 yet!

the car itself is fine, but i want to sort a couple of things before she sells! was hoping to get it sorted out very soon to free up some drive space, but she just sits there!

couple of jobs to carry out on the G40 first though, they include front wheel bearing (hopefully doing this saturday) and dizzy, leads etc.

as for long or short term, the G will be staying with me for a long time so i could say thats a long term thing.

what can i say, other than poppy is turning into an albatross around my neck

long-term, yes indeedy, and its not even a bling bling show 'n' shiner or a G40 ... just keeping a 1.0 on the road as the rest of it is perfectly solid, if you discount the rust weakspots (window dividers, arches, er.. thats it

) and sh*tty replacement passenger door.

still pales into nothing when i see some of you obsessed nutters have upto 6 cars on the go with projects spanning a year (or years)... but for a first time bit of grease monkeying it feels like its taking a heck of a long time and a lot of effort!

and all the fretting and trying to sort things out, argh.

take two project cars into the garage? no!!!!

here ends me getting round to gradually read to all the threads i opened at the start of the week in my browser after recovering from edinburgh, and replying to some of them..... busy busy annoying crappy week! also marks an admirable amount of uptime from my Win98 + open-source browser (opera) setup, which has - thanks to far, far too many, beyond design limits tabs open at once - slowly consumed system resources up to the critical limit and now could do with a sympathetic bit of rebooting to prevent it crashing.
So there won't be any more things flying back from the grave...

Buying my first Polo from a guy on here, that's gonna be off road for about 5 months, in which time I plan:

Wheels (Decent 13's)
Exhaust (Roaring beast!)
Lowered (60/40?)
Colour coding bumpers
Respray / touch up of original paint
Induction kit?
Fogs / Clear indicators
CD Player & 6x9s

Should keep me busy and empty wallet'ed
