Dodge / Mercedes Van!!!

Post by waveydavey »

Was just on the Dodge website and found this..... The Dodge Sprinter........................... Didn't know they had used the Merc....... Would have thought Mercedes would have sold them over in the States themselves.... Not as though they don't sell Mercs over there.....

Dodge is AKA Chrysler, as in Chrysler Benz. They badge the Sprinter a Dodge to give the myth of the all-american thing, and to avoid cheapening the Mercedes range, which has no commercials in over there.

Hmmm... Small argentine diesel engine more likely. From the Dodge site: "2.7-liter I5 Turbo Diesel engine produces 154 horsepower at 3,800 RPM and 243 pounds-feet of torque from 1,600 to 2,400 RPM".

Sprinters sold in the Americas (well, from Mexico to Chile) are made in Argentina, and the Dodge is probably made there too.

5-cylinder diesel engines...

Totally looks like, for the illustration purposes, they just Photoshopped the Merc version to have a different grille, badge etc.

one of the few vehicles i always had to pull out of the right hand lane for on the motorways or the A55 and could never catch, even if they were going uphill and obviously with a big load .... poor old polo never stood a snowballs chance even whilst simultaneously crapping on everything else on the road :D
(from the sound of that, the yanks got the weedier engine o_O)

one of those + dodge viper v10 engine (going back to its truckin' roots) + usual maniac driver = inevitable carnage, but oh so beautiful to watch/listen to

311 is a 2.1 4-cylinder engine, and still damn quick for a van it's size. The 2.7 5-cylinder is available in the UK.

I drive a 311 sprintronic for work, and it is a really nice van, the only thing is, the semi-auto box does lose a lot of the engines power, compared to the manuals.
