Spider Killing Spray... Anywhere?!

Post by MadManMike »

Kinda off topic, but I have a phobia (Yes, phobia, not a fear) of spiders. I hate them, and quite frankly, they scare the bejeezers out of me.

I woke this morning to 8, yes 8! of them, lurking in corners of my room. If that isn't bad enough I go down to the loo, and on the way back up the stairs I come across one almost as large as the palm of my hand.

I need to get rid, but I can't go near them, and I don't want marks on the wall if I whack them...

Can anyone point me in the direction of a spray that kills them? I tried industrial strength fly killer but they are resistant.

Help!

I got some Insect Killer (maybe made by Raid?) from the supermarket...

It says ants and other crawling insects iirc...

Anyway, spiders curl up and die when sprayed with it :D

I really, really f-in hate spiders.

speaking of spiders, since getting my 6n2 valver i've noticed it attracts spiders...i dunno if it's the colour of what but they don't go near my red mk4. Sometimes after I've just washed it i'll have a look at it and they'll be like 10-15 little spiders walking about, really pisses me off them making webs all over it :x

Spiders hate me, I swear. They must know i'm scared of them, after yesterdays charades I put my shirt on this morning and one climbed out of it on to me... big bugger as well.

Argh!

well if you positively, absolutely have to be a b@stard, then anything squirty in your kitchen or bathroom cupboard will usually do for invertebrate life.

standard detergent finger-pump sprays have been found by me & colleagues to be highly effective against big juicy flies and other winged vermin on numerous occasions. those that don't drown (hit em with two or three good shots - far, far easier than swatting them - and it blocks their spiracles, suffocating them) either can't fly for a few moments due to wetted wings (easy squashing fodder) or get melted depending on what's in the spray! (standard fairy-liquid-n-water will just drown them, something powerful like mr muscle has a gruesome corrosive effect)

far more effective, high speed, easier-aimed, longer-range, and much, MUCH safer for everyone and everything in the immediate vicinity like some outdated 1960s DDT sh*t like Raid*. If it's liable to kill my goldfish, then just what the hell is it doing to my own lungs?

(course, a spider can't fly, but they're easier to hit so you might be able to dowse it in enough liquid that it cant run very well)

can't think of anything that will just generally kill them and keep them away, sorry. i dont really have a problem with spiders so i just do the old glass-and-piece-of-paper trick, or even just pick them up and dispose if they're in a bad place. two-inch-plus, flappy, panicky moths and cicada bugs are more a problem, because they're quite weighty and tend to beeline for my face in a crazed parody of flight... still try to do the same, but they're a lot harder to pin down.

you could always just keep splatting them. or get a less squeamish friend/relative to come round and relocate them humanely to the garden.

btw i've also noticed the spider car preference thing. they LOVE poppy's navy blue paint (been a cobweb magnet since day one) but abhor the silver astra. very odd.

* though im way off the scene these days i guess i'll always be part geek ... i spelt that in all capitals first time round, as in the hard disc array standard rather than insecticide
