Off the line maybe, but at high speed?
granted yes, hehehe half this post is about me and i didnt even know about it!!

now im not a "boy racer" as quinny has probably lead somewhat you to believe! - just every now and again i see my chance and go for it

as for a VTS being whooped by a G40, ive seen a VTS beat a G40.

I have done a mk2 golf 16v with the old Digijet injection, hes a mate of a mate, but then again, once we got onto the carriageway he was able to get up my arse - so yes... as for urban driving/traffic lights/country roads id say mine would win hands down... but then again, once its onto a motorway, there woudlnt be a slightest glimmer of hope.

lol... i like the way how Quinny sez we were off to toys r us - it was to get a damned football lol!!

the chavvie in the saxo that i got done by *shudder* was two up yes... but it was him (total peck) and a 3"7' girlfriend, with his windows rolled up, i had the windows down n sunroof open - fair enough he beat me, i cant say any different -WISH I COULD!! lol, mind you ive beaten a saxo VTR before with a "few mods" apparently one of them ebing a lightened and balanced fly

at the end of the day - im slowing down lol.. ive had a few too many things drive past me recently (the 'one' above lol, a starlet turbo running 1.5 bar of boost, and a done up peugoet 1.9 205 GTI)

a few engine mods will be coming, hopefully this side of christmas, and then we'll see whos faster than the chavvies!!!

LOL

I'm impartial, I was merely saying what "PMSL" meant.

Lol @ this thread!

The PMSL comment was for a few reasons, but mainly because you're able to beat a stock G40 to 60 - someone obviously can't launch their G40 particularly well!

I've been out in your GT when Dan owned it, and it was a very nice car - and pulled well for a GT. ~90bhp on Stealth's rollers if memory serves? Fair play if you're able to beat 16v Mk2 Golfs in it though, have you tweaked the car more since Dan owned it?

Amstrange, petty slagging is pretty childish, you havn't been in the car for a long time and Yolmol has done a few little mods and tweaks to the car. Amongst those was a brand new distributor, HT leads, Sparks and coil this alone gave a very noticable difference from it was first purchased off of Dan Barnes.

Enough G40 owners have been quite shocked and many people have mistaken this GT for a G40 including GT owners and a mk2 GT conversion owner.

Think what you want, I clearly touched a nerve quite unintentionally! :? I'm well aware how capable a well-setup GT can be, wait another 6-12 months and you'll probably see a couple of GTs that are more than capable of beating stock G40s on the 1/4 mile.

I ran a healthy GT motor myself for a while, virtually identical spec to Yolmol's at the time - G40 exhaust & manifold, chip, all new ignition components, ported TB, modified TB elbow etc. - that would hit the limiter in 5th, but was still a lot lot slower than my stock G40 had been. That's why I stuck 50bhp worth of nitrous on it...

GT's are great if you can catch turbo'd motors off boost/in the wrong gear, or find someone not really capable of driving their car properly, and are really handy in the traffic light grand prix, as long as you're not going to get above 45ish. It's the 0-60 claims and stuff that seem optmistic to me, I know of a well fettled 3F motor that was run in a Mk2 with 50bhp of nitrous - and the best dash to 60 in that was 7.8s from back in the day when Santa Pod gave you 0-60 times on the slips. Measuring with a stopwatch/speedo combination is never going to be that accurate - it gives my G40's time as around 5.5s!

I love it that Quinny defends Yolmol to the very end, its cute...

anyway, Mark said he'd been beaten by a 205 1.9 GTI? What had been done to it?

Having owned a few cars of late (LOL) including a mint 205 GTI with 37k miles, the G40 beats it hands down, EASY, and that was my stock green G40, my current black G40 is considerably quicker than the green one too due to the mods done to it.

Like anything, there's no point arguing about it, we need to see the GT in action Mark, i don't doubt you for a second but we all need proof i guess.

Get yourself to Santa Pod on 25th Sep and play agains the G's!!!

Cant wait...

lol, it sounds a likely story... but i wont be attending the santa pod meet, its a good few hours drive for me, and polo show alone is gonna tottally blow me out - hell im not even doing tatton, and E38 funds are that bad right now!!

yer i can agree.. maybe it has been quite a few flukey pull offs, i dont wanna make it sound as though it breathes fire, when in turn it probably doesnt.

only things that ive done since dan owned it, is added new plugs, oil change, rad, new/refurbed??? VW distributor, new dizzy cap, rotor arm, piperx filter and a gargantuan bit of cold air hosing lol also new wheels with different profile tyres - gonna take the charcoal can out this weekend just for the sake of it lol

ive played a lot with the timing, so it now sometimes starts to pink when anything less than super unleaded/optimax goes through its veins - lol... i really should take that back a few notches before i blow it!!

@ andy... it was definatly a GTI, couldve been an MI16, looks as though a lot of money had been spent on it (very straight, very tidy, slammed on diamond cut wide looking peugoet GTI rims) and he was owning me. Doubt it was an MI16 though, wouldve thought that would easily be able to go round and past me no problems

lol, TBH, id rather think it of the same power as a 1l and me not being able to drive for s**t... at least then i wouldnt have anything to try and live up to!!

ya never know... my speedo could be drastically out
