HIGH IDLE SPEED??

ok so i leave for work this morning ... about 1/2 a mile down the road i come to a pedestrian crossing so i stop but as i put the clutch down i realise the car is revvig away at 2000 revs .. not normal, never done this before? for the rest of the journey it was an intermittent problem, when i pulled up in the car park the car was idling normally

.. ive had this happen before on my lat car .. it was the accellerator 'potentiometer' ? cost bout 120 to be replaced?

and ideas?

sounds like the throttle sensor problem,
and probably vacum leak too.
