Post by inder »

Anbody recommend this product or is safe to use? Looking for something to clean out the cruddy oil so its all shiny inside and ready for fresh oil and filter (does not look nice when looking in under the oil cap)

:?

"Engine Flush 350ml

dunno mate, sounds like your average gimmicky product that wont really do any good unless you know gunk is giving your engine some trouble. if you're just wanting to remove the cacky oil when doing a change, you're probably as well just to "waste" an extra half litre of 10w40 by running it thru with the cap, filter and drain bolt off. cheaper than the flush i shouldnt wonder... and maybe more effective, as it'll both be a greater volume and of the same stuff thats already in there.

then again it might be fabulous. devils advocates, sign below..

Please please don't use engine flushes - change the oil every 1000 miles for 3 changes - much safer and better for the engine with less risk of damage.......

These engine flush treatments are

- non specific in the carbon they attack

(removing carbon from behind the rings is major bad news - leading to a loss of compression and oil control)

- Can cause large lumps of carbon to break off and circulate round the engine

(carbon is tough stuff - tougher than alloy!!!!)

- lowers the viscosity of the engine oil

(leads to rapid wear if left in too long)

I cannot stess this enough - they are bad bad bad news - want a long life from your engine - treat it to regular oil changes - see my post in Car Care section - "best oil" - Mental note to myself to bump that into the correct section when I get bored one day!!!
