Bloody speed cameras on the M1 !!!!!!!!!!!

Post by macemc86 »

 I was forced to drive my mum to birmingham airport this morning! i got a little lost on the way back , but eventually ended up on the M1... i was admittedly doing 80mph and noticed 3 fellas on top of a bridge with what looked like digital cameras on tripods. They had an unmarked white van behind them. Where these speed cameras?? if so i think im buggered as i don't know if i slowed down on time...the cameras probably detect your speed from way off anyway????

Not a good morning at all!

If your speedo was saying 80 then it would register at about 77 on their cameras.

Copper mate said that 80 is min u will get done for so u might be alright

Yeah kinda happened to me on the A14 not long ago. Was doing 80 and didn't slow down till i went under the bridge and thought there was a speed camera. Looked in rear view mirror and was a police van.

Got no ticket though

Remember they have 14 days to send you a NIP after that it is invalid.

won't normally do you at 80mph on motorways only if your doing like 85+ depending how fast other traffic is going

Are they allowed to clock you in an unmarked van, surely they have to be clearly signed?

You might also have been lucky, quite often they have surveyors with equipment which looks suspiciously like a speed camera checking the bridges. Anyway, if your speedo registered 80 they almost certainly won't have you for it, they'd be booking everyone if they did.

i think they were in between junc: 24 and 22 ..... *i think* !!!
and as for clocking you in an unmarked vehicle...they werent even in the van, they were standing outside, and the cameras set up outside the van.. i didnt see any warning signs nearby, but i saw speed camera signs a few junctions before... In the 40 mph zone (due to roadworks) ..but i thought that was just for the few Spec cameras they have (the ones that take your average)

I just wish i knew exactly what speed i was doing, i was too busy staring at them to know precisely...but i think it was 80. *worried* lol...

yea how cool would that be if it was only surveyors :D but would surveyors have 3 men manning 3 cameras, each over looking a lane?

was probably just a camera checking reg numbers for, tax, insurance, driver records. i got stopped by a copper after going under a bridge with one of these vans on it. turns out the previous owner of my car had been banned from driving and DVLA had not undated there records.
