Draining the washer bottle...

Post by dino »

Is there an easy way this?

Reason being - previous owner put it seems half a bottle of washing up liquid in and its useless at clearing the screen. I want to drain the bottle and then rinse it clean of any washing up liquid.
So i can put some decent stuff in that will clear the screen in the coming winter months.

Any tips/advice?

I don't think there is like a bung for it?

Perhaps you could just sypon it out using a short piece of hose, get the flow going, then just let is flow out into a bucket or something

Then id fill it up with clean water and run it a few times over the windscreen, so clean out all the pipe work, to get rid of the washing-up liquid and then put in the good stuff

Hope helps

Will running it over the screen constantly not put a lot of strain on the motor?

I mean in short bursts, but I dont think you can damage it that easily

I dunno if you can reach the bottom of the washer bottle if you remove the front right grille (looking at the car head on). Could always take off the bumper and just pull one of the pipes off. However taking the bumper off maybe more hassel than you're looking for.

You may as well be patient and wait till it runs out tbh.

Hose in the bottle and then suck on the hose to get the flow going and just let it drain.
