what is needed to upgrade the front brakes to vented on a coupe s?

Discs, callipers and carriers from a mk1/2 golf gti. If the callipers have 'VW II' stamped on them then they're the ones you want. They just bolt straight on, it's a direct replacement.

emm correct me if im wrong but arent the g40 dics just a stright fit on to the mk2 coupe s?

you just need VWII calipers which are wider to incorporate the wider discs. you cant fit vented discs under normal calipers there just isnt enough room. Older polos need newer carriers too fitted to polos from 85ish to 94. The VWII carriers arent essential as the standard ones are big enough. Standard ones also give more wheel clearance.

do they have to have vented discs on them when i remove them or could i just get some vented ones for them new and they would fit? i saw a lot at scrap yard today with vwII marked on them but they all had solid discs

thats very odd. Cant understand why they would do that. VWII is stamped in massive writing. I thought it said VWII on one of my cars old calipers but it was just an extra line of rust. :shock: (VWI calipers have much smaller writing)

there where a few cars in, 2 mk4 polos and a seat and they had vw II on them all with solid discs

right well im not sure mk4 polo ones fit. You want some from a deecent engined mk1/2 golf or 1/2 scirocco, IIRC the bolt spacing is different on later ones (Could be wrong though)
