yeah i get caught behind slow drivers all the time! i mean i'm not a fast driver myself but i do like to keep to the speed limits and keep with the flow of traffic!
as for idiot drivers, don't get me started!! my road usually has enough room for one car to get up it with cars parked on either side! it also has lots of junctions which are sometimes hidden by parked cars.
idiots drive up the road at like 50-60 when even 20 could be classed as dangerous especially as its residential, ie kids, pets and all. i've had some close calls when backing outta my drieway. really gets my back up!!

Technically your not using the road correctly - as your not overtaking any one why are you in the outside lane?
But any way as your not overtaking anyone, pull back into the inside line sticking to the limit and if you go past him you are not undertaking as you are allowed to do so if traffic is moving slower in the other lane...so therefore not breaking the law.

For good measure beep him as you go past and give him a nice wave with which ever finger you like.

Or just beep him/flash until he moves!

i chased one in my leon once. i tried to suck him up my turbo but he got scared coz he thought he'd lost me and then i suddenly appeared on his tail again. he went and hid behind a bush.

Advantages of a Mk2 with a dodgy carb - if I feather the accelerator just right in a high gear, then dip the clutch and plant it, I get instant 2 foot flames coming out of the exhaust :)

On the other hand, the d*ck in the RX-8 that cut me up when I was in the works van yesterday would have got a kicking if I hadn't been at work. Cutting up a 3.5 tonne fully loaded sprinter in a sports car might be a reasonable idea, if you're going to get away quick. He was pulling out and going straight over at 5mph and expected everyone on the road to wait for him.

Wish I'd been in my car actually, I'd just have gone straight into him and had a new car off his insurance.

whats up with woman drivers (in most cases) in trafic jams with extreme tailgating. They just zoom of the clutch and right up your ass. "its a trafic jam" I can't go any faster, so after a while you just end up winding them up on purpose by not going & sudden breaking. (look in ur mirror and watch their shocked face/or screw face)

I love winding people up me :)

Maybe.. I wanted to over take him... a 306 undertook him, didnt want to do that because sods law says he'll decide to move over as I go past and go into the side of me.

You missed my point.

If you are sticking to the speed limit in the inside lane and he is sitting there in the outside lane doing 50mph. If you pass him doing 70mph you are not undertaking. Its in the highway code.

Yeah i totally agree so many ppl that are on the roads these days that incite road rage. Am terrible with road rage, my gf has to calm me down ( usually takes a live footy and a pint - obv not driving home from pub :P )

I hate ppl who pull out infront thinking if they floor it then maybe the can match your speed b4 you hit them!!!! why take such a chance with their car and MINE!!!!! i wish some ppl would take themselves and their car and go play with a big tree or cliff!!!

I also hate the grannies ( and grandad's ) who havent the slightest idea which planet they are on. Also the ppl who suddenly brake hard for no reason????????? why why why do they do it!!!

All i know is that my car has a horn and gonna use it!

Rant over and i feel better!!

what's with anyone extreme tailgaiting in traffic queues? i get this a lot and i can't understand one bit of it. its not getting you further up the road (as we're all going to stop around the same point anyway), it's certainly not going to make me go faster with a bus/truck/five miles of twice-a-day-5-days-a-week private car commuter traffic slap in front, all its doing is making the situation dangerous ..... SO WHY DO IT?!

arrrrrrghghghhhh

i do try to slow down and pull back from whats in front just a little obviously when they start it on, pull up sharpish at junctions using the low gears mainly and the brake only at the last second etc, til maybe they scare themselves into easing off..... what else can you do?

ditto twerps that wont pull over to let you overtake when theres no reason for it .... mainly you should just undertake* them quickly and cleanly and see if they get the message (often works), but if they're of the completely oblivious mindset such as my mum, or the nob in a beemer who started roadraging at me when i gave him beams in the outside lane of the m1 (nothing in the other two for miles, him doing 67mph) this may not work --- full beams, indicator, and horn may also fail.

but, omicron, you've given me a good idea. i can't afford neither a fullsize metre-long maglite, nor the batteries and storage space for it, but i do have a shiny new triple-white-LED "headlamp" which could be bounced right into their eyes off the rearview mirror, with a bit of careful aiming. with attention thus got, handsignals may be made ---> V

probably work quite well for tailgaters as well, try to shine it in their face thru the back window (a bit more random of course as you can't realistically control or check on it without running straight into a wall). thus making them back off until they're out of range of it's piercing beam.

PS General standard of driving = ok, but falling
Proportion of total with obviously crap skills = rising sharply
Chance of being blamed on a technicality for an accident thats not your fault = damn high
Situation = bleak
Driving test = far too easy, somewhere along the way good driving practice seems to have been abandoned in favour of 3 point turns, theory tests on tram signals and totally unrealistic hazard perception tests (fixed direction camera on the bonnet, logging response by hitting a button? what???), in all but a minority of teachers and examiners. Can't say for my examiner, but my teacher was certainly determined to drill good practice in, which is why it took an age to get round to having a test (and twice as long for my brother ... sign that the test is too easy is that he actually got through it on the third attempt)
Only solution = take off and nuke the site from orbit
That or claim a new car off the insurance of every tail gater by brake testing them HARD until they've all learnt their lesson or your neck cant take any more whiplash injuries.
