Brake Light and Reverse Light not working

Hey everyone,
My Reverse light stopped working today, so changed the bulb, still not working. then i realised that my brake light stops working after I changed the reverse light. Made sure that the bulbs are in nice n tight, but still didn't work. Any Ideas would be much appreciated. Cheers!

/obvious:

* you have connected the wiring up right, yeah?
* brake lights were working before?
* switch/fuse has just decided to quit at a coincidental moment? (or: fuse went due to overcurrent from failed reverse light or short circuit whilst fixing or summat)

cheers for those tips, it happened to be a fuse which was blown, so replaced that. however it blew again later that day, so replaced it again and now its fine. sounds like it could be a loose earth connection??
