well if you need an engine just to get around with, my 1.0 will probably be up for grabs by the end of the week if things continue to not go my way :(

CK, you seem as if you really do want to keep this car with what you have spent and bought for it.

That suspension kit is good and you have bought the correct accompanying parts that you should change when chaging the suspension.

It takes a brave and clever man to admit that he is not ready to undertake the maintenance of his own vehicle.

I am building mine as a Sunday car/special occasion car. I don't drive anything at the moment, I had a nasty accident in my mk2 that is disputing in the insurance and thus havn't driven since due to not being bothered and being quite angry that when I win the insurance cost will half compared to the p*** take price now.

Tahrey's car does look quite cool, it should be a nice run about and them 1.0 l's just keep on going. They are cheap and easy to maintain and give a fairly good view as to how a G40 handles and how to maintain the majority of it without the complications of removing charger, intercooler, rose bush joints. Either way good luck.

only cuz you havent seen it mate, its a bog standard 1.0 navy blue h-reg squareback with issues.... such as tired panelling, wonky nearside door and a "broken" gearbox

but the engine should be alright for another 80k if the gasket proves to be sealing properly now that ive fixed it all up.

the rest of the frame is good too, maybe you could take that and the engine, put the engine in the G as a make-do while the lader lump is being nursed back to health, and keep the body in a lockup somewhere for when the G frame starts suffering the stress fractures in the leg areas that are starting to crop up :)

after all you only really need G power when out for a razz, the lightness of the car means a 1.0 is quite practical as a daily driver and even fun once you accept that accleration is now a gradual game of anticipation rather than one of instant gratification. you'd still have the enjoyment of all the other mods you've blown time and money on fitting etc.

i really dont know wat to do, i mean i got a cbr 600 as a second vehicle and i cant rely on that as i work nights n have to park it outside dodgey stations so its a big risk take carrying around a machine which attracts the wrong attension!

i really do love my g40 its just let me down to many times n silly things throttle cables breaking at important times is just silly

i do want to keep it but pit stop r too far away n i cant offord the repair billes, not talknig about 100 or 200 we are talking about 4- 5 hundread pounds each go!

my suspension setup is coming n i dont know whether to sell it all n the car or take another 400 pounds breakdown risk with the car in the hope it wont break

some 1 said i can get forged pistons which may increase the reliability of the car???????

something like that.... mayhaps

dunno just saw someone else writing about it. all the torque that gets shoved through the front wheels playing havoc with a chassis originally designed for no more than a 60hp engine i guess :D
