It this a straight swap to a mk2f (mk3) once you get the 5 cylinder audi carriers and calipers? just wondered!
obviously need new pads and disks but wondered if they needed spacers like the 280mm set up.
thanks.

Yeah you need the carriers off an old Audi Coupe, but I think you can use any 256mm calipers with them.
G40 brakes should be ample for GT power though, but it is up to you.

Thanks Krupa!
I was hoping that was it, as there is an audi in the scrapy which i think is of the right type.
Bigger the brakes the better i say!
Don't laugh they are going on my new 1.0 not the GT (the GT has G40 brakes on), but the little 1.0 is my new project!

Sounds interesting...
If the brakes prove to be no use, you could always ebay them, they're a 256mm conversion for the Mk1 Golf GTi too.
And I know a certain owner of a grey G40 who may be interested...

If they are in a scrappy, get em ! I phoned over twenty VW/Audi breakers before locating a set.

I reckon that's a steal! You should see how much they go for on ebay.

I am going to have to save again - just looked at the price of reconned items £65 each. Also looking at zimmerman cross dirlled/vented disks and pagid fast road pads for the 256s, as they worked well with the g40 brakes on my GT. (It now has cheap ass part co items mintex pads and ????? disks but they are no where as good). I am hoping the 256s will fit under golf mkII 14" steels without spacers, so it is nice and descrete.
