mmm, potatoshoppery

weak as p*ss i know, but thats my excuse for bombing back up the private runway that just happens to merge with the m40 for like 80 little miles foot down in 5th last night, 60 odd bhp working hard and drinking even harder.
(well ok, fast as traffic allowed and i dared in the crappy weather, THEN as described once it dried and thinned out some)

wasnt exactly at any great risk. probably safer than the average autobahn (far safer than them 150kmh sections of the autostrada)

plus i needed a crap :D

Image
rubbish seamtastic shoppery i know but theres feeling in that sentiment - the technology could easily be used to pick out those doing stupid stuff like dawling at 60 in the outside lane or habitually following far too close (i felt too close at times in the rain, but then i looked to the left and saw three cars in the middle lane between me and the one in front in the outside, doing almost the same speed).
so why still concentrate on speeders even where it doesn't make so much difference?
easy targets thats why, and easy to vilify in the minds of politically powerful non drivers who understand the simplistic speed=danger equation but not any of the more complicated, often unwritten road rules and less obvious dangers.

No, they're safety cameras honest, they're not for making money at all  Yeah right, what's the deal with them on motorway bridges? I'm still convinced that they cause more accidents if anything, with the amount of time you spend looking at your speedo to make sure you are doing the speed limit, and in doing so aren't watching the road.

they are taking a lot of the "gatso" ones down now arent they? Something about them causing more road accidents as people speed more in between them

they are being replaced with these distance ones that average your speed over miles of road

gay!

Great! They won't be happy until they tell us what time to eat and go to the toilet! In residential areas I totally agree with them but within reason obviously on 50 and 60mph roads, there isn't really much need for them, half of them are on roads with no houses etc. For those that have been to Luton via the A6, that is a bit of overkill IMO.

It was even proven that the boards that light up are more effective than Gatso's etc, just stick more of them in, I bet they're a damn site cheaper than £70,000 each as well!

Rant over

They've replaced one in Farley Hill, Luton and it has been spray painted within a day of going back up. Lenses sprayed black completely - muahhhhhhahahahahha

quality :D

what you need nowadays though, probably, is paint that's also impervious to infra-red ... thats what the Truvelos use at night after all, and you may be unlucky to find that you've painted it over with stuff that looks jet black in the visible wavelengths but is totally opaque in IR..
