buying a 9n

Post by mikegti »

I went to look at a 52 plate 1.2 E (55bhp) today on behalf of my sister. It's done only 24,000 miles, but I noticed what seems to be an oil leak from the rhs (looking from the front), just below where the plastic engine cover stops. Looks like its been there a while as the side of the engine is oily.

I didnt want to start pulling bits off while the owner was standing around, so I wondered if this was a common problem and easily sorted (e.g. a hose off somewhere?) or if we should steer clear of it? Seems to drive nicely enough.

It has just been serviced by VW so I would have hoped anything serious would have been spotted?

I'd be grateful of any advice here!

cheers,
mike
