Screenwash

Post by ModifiedMadness »

Bought some screen wash today (I've got a 2001 GTi) I'm not sure how much screenwash to put in to how much water, can anyone help?

The bottle is s**t, I poured just under 3/4 of a litre in there to the rest water, not bad really, it's a 6.5L water bottle.

It's usually about 20/25% mix, but I always water it down loads so it goes further. I only really put about 10% of screenwash in, to stop it from freezing in winter.

I tend to go through screen wash quite quickly... the bottle says something like one part screenwash to 3/4 parts water... and says increase the concentration of screenwash in the winter.
I remember last Christmas I tried to spray quite a concentrated mix onto an icy windscreen... all froze up... such a mess I had

the regular wash stuff is rubbish in really low temps even if you use it neat - i think there must be proper winter mixes you can buy.

can always remember driving down a B-road from Llanberis to Bangor on a little random jaunt one time december or january, freezing bitter cold, robin did a dump on the screen or something ... quick squirt of wash ... argh! can't see! complete white-out, had to come to a quick halt and try to "feel" my way onto the grass verge and whip out the de-icer! nightmare - worth looking into finding some proper stuff...
