bolt positions question

Post by Tahrey1043 »

I think i got the box on!

But I've got these five bolts and im not sure what order to put them on in.... like a fool i took pictures of everything, except the box on in it's natural position before starting, and there's nothing in the entire archive either. The bolts went into a polythene bag to keep them safe, but this lost the order

Wouldn't be a problem usually, but there's four long ones, one slightly shorter one, and two washers (i think both go on the long bolts?)

Anyone got a suitable photograph for guidance, or can tell me which one goes where please?
(and a reminder of where the hole is for the bolt that goes in the other direction to the others)

I'm gonna inspect the old one for clues but dont think i'll find much

Cheers :)

Are we talking about the main bell housing bolts that hold the gearbox to the engine block here?

yep

i've got em in, i took a flying leap on the best available evidence (and also found where the other-way one lives) and did:

all long ones going from housing into block
one washered one, at the very front / bottom
short one plus washer going from block to housing (at back between shafts and starter)

hopefully this is correct?

hmmm... in that case, perhaps they're supposed to, but got lost during a clutch change or something?
torqued them all up properly without any trouble though, it'll be someone elses problem down the line getting them off if needed, i guess

(came off alright for me though)
