Post by neilw »

Hi. Boredom on sunday lead me to modify and colour code my engine cover. What do you guys think, im not too sure about it yet, It may grow on me, plus I might colour code more bits, ie the HT Lead holder bit

Got to stick the 1.6 16V back on.

It looks better than the cover on mine which is sort of sitting on top of the bmc! but then I can return mine to standard.

Although I think you should take out the standard air intake pipe, its got a very tiny opening inside the wheel arch!

I used 60mm dia tubing to draw air from the wheel arch, works a treat.

Did you chop your cover so that your BMC would fit or is that a different one?

Yup I chopped the back bit of the engine cover off. im planning on getting rid of that intake pipe, going to look into getting abit of Stainless steel tubing made up, then get it to go into the arch.

Thanks for the comments glad people like it.

umm mine doesnt have any heat resistant stuff, I best check up on it lol.

I think its easier than people think to paint things you just have to take your time. I've had practace on my door handles and my front splitter. Its not going too look 100% pro, but I enjoy doing things myself, I think you get get more satisfaction doing it yourself than handing over money for someone else to do it.

Im getting POLO and GTI badges instead of the normal 1.6 16v to go onto the engine cover, so that'll be abit differnt.

ohhh and 2days till coilovers now :D
