Fog Lights and the Pigs
Fog Lights and the Pigs
Well you had you fog lights on when it wasn't foggy do if you get caught expect a fine. Fog lights make not one bit of difference when driving in good weather conditions other than they fill the gap where main beam doesn't illuminate right under the cars nose.
No sympathy I'm afraid - fed up with being blinded by people with fog lights on in daylight and night time (in good weather conditions).

Sorry Silky, I have to agree with the other guys here too. Every time I see another driver using fogs in perfectly clear conditions I'll flash my fogs at them in an attempt to make them aware it's not the done thing.
The only time I have used fogs when it's not foggy are either when [a] I'm pulling onto my drive at home and require a little extra illumination (I park on a row of slabs!), or On roads like the A53 between Hodnet and Shrewsbury when it's dark and raining and big pools of water accumulate at the sides of the road - I use my fogs to be able to see them better and try and avoid the buggers
But in town and other built-up areas it's almost unforgiveable, sorry mate!

Good, it's about time they started doing something about twats driving about with foglights on. You want to try riding a motorbike mate, same for any c**t with blue LEDs.
They only have one purpose, for kerb following in heavy, and I mean heavy, fog. I don't normally have the ones on the truck fitted, let alone turned on apart from at this time of year when we really do get fog that heavy (<20 foot visibility).polosilver wrote:I think fogs are f*****g useless. I'd like to point out that I don't drive round with my fog lights on. It was a one off. No one was on my road and only one car can fit down the road as there are so many cars parked on either side. Just wanted to put that across. I don't want everyone thinking that I'm one of those people who always has his foggys on.
I too am glad to see the police doing something about it as well. Obviously I wasn't at the time. But so many people do it and it pisses me off as well. As I live on a quiet street I thought i'd try it out. I was only 100m from my house when I did.
Like I said before. Learn't my lesson!

winds me up when i see people driving with them on when its not foggy.
however, there is a slight flaw on the mk3 when it comes to trying to get them turned off.
If someones following me with fogs on and blinding me, i tend to put my rear foglight on to annoy them...only problem is,on mk3's to do this you have to have the fronts on,which makes you look just as bad

Sounds like you were quite unlucky getting caught.. with it being a quiet street etc. but then, i guess it's at their discretion whether or not to fine you.
People driving with fogs on when it blatantly isn't foggy ( or 'adverse conditions' as in the highway code iirc) is so irritating because it can pose a threat/danger by dazzling oncoming drivers. And so I reckon the following is equally as bad.
(nothing personal mysteryboy, just your actions seem to contradict the reasoning behind most peoples' argument against using fog lights inappropriately)

If & when I get blinded by an oncoming car I turn mine on to blind him back (some have the cheek to flash their lights as to say turn em off) then I turn them off when I pass the idiot.

Don't worry Silky I don't think any of us are guilty of using fogs on a regular basis, it's just bad timing for you to meet a cop at that exact point!
Pettsy, same thing happens with my GTi, tonight a 206 pulled out behind me with fogs on and to flash my rear fog at her (already flashed the fronts at her on my way past the junction) I had to switch the fronts on
Personally I reckon that foglights look fine, they tend to give a more sporty look to a car and seem to be finding their way onto more and more new cars. People just need to learn how to use them properly
