Black caps

Post by ModifiedMadness »

I keep losing one of the black caps that cover my wheel nuts, I've gone through 3 since having the car, all from the same wheel. Has anyone else had this problem? If so how did you sort it?

Sugar, not much luck at all, thankfully mine have been alright but what you could do is put a bit of Blu-tack inside the cap and see if this will make a difference.

you're losing them because the nut you're putting it on is a locking nut, so it has a different shaped head, and the black covers dont grip onto them. you can get black covers meant for the locking nuts, so you'd have twelve normal black covers and then four for the locking nuts

Another follow on question, can you buy the lockin wheel nut key from VW, I don't think my car came with one?

Yep you can, but you need to know which one... check in the boot 'tool box' first, it looks like a small bolt.

If not there, im sure car info can be looked up to see which set was fitted to your car to get the correct key. Each VW set has a two digit number code embossed on the key
