Interior Lights

Post by AcidBoI »

Guys is it possible to buy interior bulbs which are brighter than those actually found on my 6n polo?

Yesterday I changed the fan/heater controls bulb, and discovered that the bulb emits orange light and when I fitted everything in place, the fan/heater controls did light on but really dim, and I wish to make them brighter.

I'm just wondering if I can fit bulbs which are brighter and emit white light instead, like LEDs, which fit in directly, because orange light on green controls make them look dimmer I think. Any help please?

S'not like you have anything to lose - I was thinking of doing the same thing. Just gotta make sure you dont completley butcher the wires when your installing the LEDs otherwise you wont have light down there at all!

what I was thinking of maybe a bulb, similar to the standard one, which emits brighter white light which could fit at one go. dunno if any exist anyway, that's y I'm asking.

also, I was thinking of replacing the green light filter with a red one to have a red lit heater/fan controls. is it possible to find any for sale?

well I think the best way is to buy Haynes and follow the steps on the book because it's very helpul as it tells you step by step what to do.

But for the heater, all you need to do is to pull the face where the heater controls are then you should find 4 screws. Pull out the casing where normally the electric windows switches are, and unscrew the screws.

Then you should be able to pull out the heater controls and by removing the white plastic u will find the bulb, just pull it out and slide in a new one.

About the petrol light, I think that there is no petrol light on the 6n polos because I don't have it either...

ive changed my heater lights...as well as the rest...to leds and it is a pain in the neck!takes a lot of leds to get them lighting up evenly!

u can get a red filter version from one of the older seats...think it may be the ibiza

IIRC the petrol light is only on late 97 onwards cars (R onwards)
