Drink 24/7

Post by mysteryboy »

Well it's now official. Most pubs & clubs are open 24hours.
What do you think... Good idea or bad idea?
I can see a lot of pros & lot of cons.

WRONG...

Out of all around 1000 licences granted about 70% are supermarkets.

Any remember just because pubs/clubs have a 24hr license does not mean they will be open for 24hrs.

All of our (Luminar) clubs have only been granted till 5am licenses (as per our application not because we were refused 24hr)

The fact that you can buy food 24/7 doesn't make you turn into a fat bloater - its wanting to eat all the time that does that.

I'm sick of hearing people commenting on there will be more violence, binge drinking.....etc - Customers are not going to have more money at the end of the day, will be drinking slower as they have longer to stay in the pub and wont be throwing it down their throat as quick as they wont be able to afford it. People will be leaving at staggered times therefore will not be all piling out at once.

How can you say more fights?

Longer hours are not going to result in more fights, people are still going to have the same amount of disposable income and will fight when ever they like - Longer opening hours do not have any part in it

So your basing you opinion of whats going to happen across the country from what happens around your way...

Im going to stay out of this - I work in the industry so it's something i deal with daily.

as above, i get to see it all during and at the end of the night.

IMO it won't make much difference. People will still have the same alcohol tolerance wether they're drinking till 11 or drinking till 4 etc.

Just means us bar staff have to work longer hours

I used to live in Spain and it was nice to be able to drink late...

I'll give you an example:

Friday night, get home from work about 19:00.

Sit down, have a chat for half an hour.

Make some dinner.

Have a beer while eating dinner and watching tv.

Wash the pots.

It's about 21:00 now.

Pick some clothes to wear and get them ironed.

Have a sh1t, shave and shower.

It's getting on for 22:00 now.

Get ready, call a cab.

Cab arrives and drives you into town... It's about 22:45.

Have a few drinks.

Have a dance.

 @ some Dorris's

Have another dance and a few more drinks...

By 'eck lad, it's 4am!!

Have a burger.

Find a taxi.

Get driven home.

It's almost 5am, we're pissed, but not too smashed.

Jump in the pool and have a little swim.

Get shouted at by neighbours

Go to bed at around 6am!

Bosh, great night out!
