Hi everyone, i dont suppose anyone knows what offset the 17" wheels are that you can get as a factory optional extra do you?
I read that the 15s" on the TDI sport are ET45, but im pretty sure the 17s will be lower offset. thanks. mark.
Vw 17s
Sorry mate dont have a clue but just wanted to wish you luck on your 90mm drop! Dont want to dissapoint you but if you want to go for super low go for 15" or 16" Because if you run 17" the max you will beable to lower your car will be roughly 70mm without any arch mods! To be honest I wouldnt even consider doing any sort of arch mods to a brand new car still under warrenty. Mole has lowered his 65mm at the back but with his amp/sound system it sits roughly about 70mm and he runs 17's and gets rubbing sometimes. If you can afford new tyres every couple of months they yeah go for it cos it WILL looks the buisness!
P.S. What sort of kit lowers the polo 90mm anyway? A hacksaw???

thanks for the reply....
1stly, no luck required, im buyin the car to modify it, 17s go easy on a mk6, ive checked out the arches and they are so empty and pre trimmed in comparison to the mk4 arches. i run 17s on my mk4, its sitting on a 40mm lowing kit, but its DEFINATLY more like 60mm, ive compaired it to others, and i can have 4 up, its not too bad, yeah they rub, but youve all heard the saying...if it dont scub it aint low enough
FK coilovers quote they go to 110mm, so thats enough, none of this hacksaw business.....
you cant expect to lower a car and fit bigger wheels and not mod the arches, if you do, your living in a dream world!!
15s are too small for a mk6, the arches are huge, and i am gonna get some porcshe rims for shows (probably 16s) i am hoping to go about 90mm on the proper porka rims, but the replicas im gettin for every day use (CUP 3s) will be at least 70mm. GO check out a mk4s wheel arches, and then check out your mk6s wheel arches, youll be surprised at the difference!
Yes, i know the wonderfull mole runs 17s on about 70mm, but he told me his 17s are ET35, now thats fairly high. with coilovers fitted an ofset of ET45 should be no problem, so there will be more room for the wheel in the outer edge of the arch (where his wheels will be catching)
im not new to this game, its almost a case of old hat now, the time ive spent trimming and heating and hammering my mk4 arches to fit 17s is almost silly!!
Ofset makes the world of difference.....my old 17s were ET35, they rubbed like hell, everywhere, with just me in the car, my new ones are ET38, and they are sooooo much better, like i say i can carry rear passengers now. i drove to birmingham and back with a full car, thats a 220mile round trip! Thats 3mm difference betweeen rubbing all the time, and hardly ever, thats nothing, 3mm, go look on a ruler!
sorry to jabber on, but nothing cant be done!

Sorry if you took offence Mark wasnt trying to p*** on your bonfire mate! Oh well at least your not afraid to try! Yeah that is true "if it dont scrub it aint low enough" but hey there is scrubbing then there is real scrubbing! I know many people have different opinions on this forum and its great
. Iam just one who thinks that "hammering" on arches of a brand new car is crazy! Will your 9N be brand new or second hand? It doesnt matter really cause it should still be under warrenty does the warrenty not bother you at all? I payed £8500 for my car and I would never take a hammer to my baby
.
Fair play your car is "mint", on the outside!
Chill out mate, my car gets done on friday so ill let you know how I get on.

Hey, i didnt take offence, cheers for the concern i guess!
Thing is, most people on this forum seem to be happy with pretty much std looking 9ns (which isnt a bad thing!!)...mines gonna have a fairbit bit of bodyshop work done (no body kits!) and she'll be slammed with porka wheels.
Im looking at buying a 2nd hand 9n, about a year old, i am planning on getting one for about £10000-£11000, with around about 10k miles or under on the clock, although saying that, my dad has offered to give me the rest for a new one providing i make the effort to sell mine for a good price.
We will see
The really annoying thing is that i have the money for the new car, but im not allowed to buy it untill my one has actually gone!
arrrrggggg parents eh!

Oh well mate looks like am screwed! My 17" wheels are ET32 and Im pretty sure the polo runs ET43 standard. If you are saying ET40 is about right does that mean I could be (starts with f ends with ed)? Im going for euro look anyway so want the wheels to "stick out" on a 65mm drop. Low and fat thats the plan. I cant wait till friday all will be reveiled!!!
