Oops, left the window open!

Post by JWC »

In that torrential, bonfire night type rain, I left my passenger side window open.

I think its a case of a miss-plipping.

I use keyless entry and also rely on it to close the windows, I must have been holding too much shopping and forgot to check that my car beeped at me.

Still, no sign of anyone even looking at it, its very quiet where I live. Been driving round today with AC in full dry-mode. Its now only slightly damp, and I'm lucky that the slanted rain, slanted the other way I think. Cheaper than shampooing and at least my arse isn't when when I'm driving.

Aww man, unlucky, hope it dries out okay

You know what you have to do now m8? Install a rain sensor, modified with a relay connected to the central locking system and/or window switches/total closure that closes the windows when rain hits it, but only functions when the doors have been locked

(c) my idea 2005

Yeah, well I had the idea of making it lock after 30 mins of being parked. That way when you forget to lock it it will lock itself.

It went smoothly until a few weeks later when I was having trouble with something and I was trying a number of things. I shut the door and left the keys in the ignition, so I could reach through the window and use the ignition. So far so good you might think. Then the somewhat predictable happens.

Two hours later my parents arrive with my spare key all the way from Derby!

Did I mention the comfort close option does not sense when you have your hand in the window! So don't try stopping it with your pinkies.

i left my driverside window open(with doors unlocked  ) overnight b4 summer, very heavy rain all night, wreked the electric window switches and the central locking switches, as well as drenching the interior.

Nobody fancied nicking my sound systems that night, I even left the face in by accident, with a boot load of sub and amps, I must have had a lot of things on my mind to leave my car unlocked with windows open lol.

My gti locks when left open for 90seconds or something, when stationary. So surely its possible.

strange how when you leave it open, no one takes any notice. Like in the simpsons, no one would take that trapoline, but homer decided to chain it to a lampost, then someone nicked it!

Perhaps if the window is wide open, theives are suspicious that they are going to be entrapped.

Yeah, I had such a thing enabled after 30 mins, but the second time I locked my keys in at the airfield or bugjam, I decided to rely on my brain instead - obviously I failed.
