MK6 Question...help please!

Post by AKs_SlickPolo »

Have a bit of a technical question, im thinking of replacing my MK4 1.4 8v with a 52 plater 1.4 SE 16v MK6. Is this a good move do you guys think? as ive heard the 1.4 S is slightly underpowered, but its mainly been about the 1.4 S and not the SE version.

I want a little more power as my mk4 is just 60bhp and the MK6 is 75bhp and is a valver too with a slightly higher top speed.

Im looking for a petrol model and have found a mint one with 26,000 miles for £6,199, does that seem like a fair price to you lot.

thanks for your help ppl :D

Hiya mate,

You should notice the power increase but remember the mk6 will be heavier so the best thing would be test drive it to compare it. The SE is quite well equipped and according to parkers it's a good price too!

Go test drive it and let us know what you think.

i would like to make this point clear first!

1.4S has exactly the same engine as the 1.4SE (75hp, 1.4 16v) :!:

the 'S' model later on the years had air con as standard, the SE does have a bigger spec, and try to get one with color pack, which has cc'd bump strips, handles and mirrors.

Cheers for the responses guys...hopefully should be test driving soon. But what do other people think of the 1.4 75bhp engine??? does any1 think it lacks torque severely??????

Hey well just provisionally sold my MK4, so am gonna get my MK6 within the next few days. I test drove it today and found it to be much better than my 8v Mk4, but it flet sluggish in 2nd after changing down from 1st. Is this normal????? i had to practically floor it to prevent it to stall
