Needing some help on my polo, specifically the brand of the tyre. Getting some new alloys and so, need new tyres.
My cousin swears by federal tyres (he owns a honda civic type r) and reckons they should be great for mine as well-but i've never heard of them!!! any good or anyone got any other suggestions
Your best bet mate is something like Toyo T1S, or Goodyear Eagle F1s
Both will give you better performance and levels of grip than Federal tyres IMHO. I think the Toyos are pretty much a standard option on new alloy and tyre packages these days? You can get the newer T1Rs if available, but obviously at more cost than the outgoing T1S tyres
I have recently had Federal's fitted to the front wheels of my Polo and they are amazing, grip level's are so much better than the Pirelli P5000 Drago's i used to have.
The one's i have are the SS595 model. As far as i know these would be fitted to a CTR as they are a lower profile than the other Federal tyres available.
i have had federal tyres on my polo 1.8t and i nearly killed myself with them on
they became VERY unstable at high speeds, i took them straight off after a few scares and had some proper tyres ( toyo t1s ) fitted and they have been spot on since
i just recently bought eagle F1's for mine for a good price on mytyres.co.uk, to replace the yoko's i had on it, and there is so much more grip in the dry and especially in the wet, i would swear by them.
Ive tried a few different tyre makes on the last few cars i have had, and i cant seem to find a better tyre than the perrelli p-zero nero, it seems to grip as good as dunlop and continental in the dry but grips 10 times better than the dunlop an conti's in the wet. I paid £72 each for these tyres 195x40 16R
I running Kumho Ecsta SPTs at the minute. They cost about £40 a corner (185/55/14): they're way better than the P6000s I had in wet weather and just as good in the dry. If you've got a bit more to spend, I've had Bridgestone RE720s on a previous car and they were great all the time, but they didn't seem to last too long.
