the bloody clutch

Post by nickpolo »

right, i just want to confirm something

the clutch in the polo gti does feel slightly heavier than that of other models because it is not hydraulic. is this right? i sat in a couple of cars today, a 53 plate 1.2 polo and a 55 reg golf gti, and both clutch pedals felt very light

all of you have posted, have you had the call back.

Ive had my GTi for abt a 3 weeks when I ourchased I asked the dealer if this had been carried out he said yes it has, I find the clutch much harde then my old mk4 quite a bit actualy and that was a P reg and twice the mileage.

I decided to call the previous owner (am the sec owner) it was a old guy who had the car must of been in his 70's, nice friendly guy telling me how he misses the power of the GTi......

Had a good nutter with him and asked him if this call back has ever been taken care of he said no, VW never called him back.

I checked the service book and theres no mention there, I have emailed VW and will call them on Monday.

If they do not look into it am gonna ask for my money back under 30 day used money back gurantee.

I do want them to sort it as I do like my car alot........

If the recall has been carried out, it will be recorded on VW's main dealer database I think. You should be able to go to your local dealership with the details of your car (make/model/numberplate/chassis no) and they can look this up for you. All owners were sent a letter stating that a recall had been issued re the pedal box problem. Alternatively give VW customer services a call and they'll know if it's been done, Either way, if it's been done it'll be on record!

I think that, if memory serves, there's an orange sticker put under the boot lining on the left hand side if the recall has been carried out on the car? I remember seeing this mentioned in a post on the forum here but can't track the message down now! I haven't checked in my boot, I've got a receipt from my dealer stating that the work has been done :)

I've got a stamp in the service book, saying it's been carried out.

I had a similar prob, if it has been done there is a sticker on the boot and a stamp in the book. code 30CI.

The dealers I used were crap, VW rely on reputation WAY too much.
