Rattle

Car has been back to VW for the 3rd time since having it (picked it up beginning of October). Turns out the rattle is a weld that has come loose in the rear of the car. Sounds fairly major to me! They can't sort anything out this side of Xmas but booked in on the 3/01/06 to be taken to bits and sorted out properly! At least its all under warranty and they washed and hoovered it which save me a job at the weekend. Anyone else had a similar problem?

Door rattle, on 7th visit to VW, goes in for that - they break something else...fix that then the rattle is not fixed.

Im currently writing a letter to them to voice my concern regarding their serivce.

EDIT - What year/model/engine is yours?

Rattles are a common thing on the polo 9n they usually come from the dash area which aren't too difficult to fix yourself if you don't want to pay vw to break something else.

Yer there is a rattle from the tray on the middle of the dash

thanks for you replies. my car is a 2003 1.9 tdi (just 100bhp at the mo). just bloody annoying that it rattles. i know on my polo gti i had allsorts of rattles. to give the colbournes their dues they have been really helpful and promised not to let the car leave the garage in jan until they have found the problem. a real improvement on normal vw customer service! also will be getting a loan car to drive wheel spins galore. with my gti found that if you write to paul willis @ vw in milton keynes he does get things done - eventually

rattling solved. the rear boot latch has been replaced again. groaning rear brakes are a `feature' and can be solved by standing on middle pedal occassionally. a funny rubber thing that holds the plastic engine cover done has also been replaced. and the window winders on the rear have been turned through 180 degress to stop the windows from opening! had a golf for 2 days and its absolute pants (noisey, slow and handles like a tank) only 3.5k on the clock. colbournes of guildford service is excellent - got it back washed and hoovered!

I'm hearing a lot of good things about VW Milton Keynes solving rattles. I have asked VW Dunstable to call them to see if they can share info to solve mine.
