REVERSE GEAR
REVERSE GEAR
Hi,
Maybe just me but I had a new gearbox & clutch fitted to my GTI about 2 months back from VW. I am still not sure if it needs to go back in, as I am always getting a crunching noise when I am putting the gear into reverse!!!
I called the dealer after a couple of weeks asking about this problem and he said to drive it round a while longer as the gears are most probably very new and need to bed in. I still have this crunch noise and would like some feedback from you guys?
Thx,
TNTUK

CRUNCHING REVERSE
Cheers M8,
I will have a word with them later and see what has come of it.

Hey mate, I had a similar thing with mine not long after I first bought it, I took it back and they said that the gear linkages are out of place.
They resolved the problem, apparently it's not an uncommon problem and the dealership said it happens when the car goes over a big pothole and knocks the alignment out of place...somehow I don't think that might be the case as I've gone over some massive potholes and my gears have been fine since then...

Does the new clutch really make that much of a difference? Because i'm thinking of fitting an LSD and will probably change the clutch as well.theclient wrote:hmmm would have thought it would be 'bedded in' after two months???
