polo cl price?

hi im buying a 1.3 polo cl coupe its a really nice car well looked after it's got 113k on the clock but its had a full engine rebuild and all the belts changed etc.
It's got some rh cup 14s on it and its been lowered 40mm and its also got a gt interior it was advertised for 995 but ive got the guy down to 900 do you guys think this is a good price for what ive described.

No, no, no! 900 for a CL?! You get GTs for less. He might just be trying to charge you more 'cause it has a few mods, don't play that game in my opinion.

i'd personally say thay was way too expensive, theres a 1.3 which looks pretty mint in "for sale" for Â£600, although i bet the RH cups look sweet...but you said you've been searching for a mk3 for ages so that's obviously the car you like the most.

i no it's quite a lot but the car is completely mint and i have been looking for one for ages and this is perfect its also got clear indicators side repeaters and an alarm it does look the nuts!

Way, way overpriced mate, especially with that milage.

To give you a scope of it, I've just had a look at what's on the trader for a grand, and if I were having my pick, there's a good M-P-reg Mondeos with 70-90k on for that kind of money. As far as Mk3 Polo's go, there's a practical plethora of 1.3 L and K-platers on there for Â£600-700, most of them Genesis's or CL's with <100k on. That gives you Â£300 change to get a GT interior (Â£40-50), clear indicators and side reps (Â£20), a s/hand set of wheels and go down the pub.

Personally, I never, ever buy modified cars, as I see it as an indicator to the way they've been driven. A well looked after, granny driven, Polo will go on to about 150k at the most (yeah, I know there are exceptions), a ragged one could well be near end of life at 113k.

To me, sounds like a case of bought it, modified it, most likely ragged it, trying to get back all he spent on it. Offer Â£500, be ready to walk away.

cheers for the great advice guys i think i will just but a standard 1.3 genesis of autotrader and do it up myself and then ill no its been done properly and hasnt been ragged. whe wheels and tyre packages would you recommend if i was going to lower my car by 40mm?

40mm you'll get away with 15x6.5" on 195/45 rubber at biggest imo - speaking from experience and by knowing a few others who've done it. But you can go even lower on this size - just requires a lot of arch work.

Depends on taste to be honest, some people like big spokey wheels, soome like them to look fat, it's a matter of what you like. I'm not really into alloys, so I'd get a set of GT rims and trims and stick it on avons. I did this to my Mk2 and it's possibly the best thing I've ever done to any car.
