the cold and the coil

Post by Andy Beard »

was driving the dub the other day and something didnt feel right,

it felt like i was wheel spinning on ice but there was no ice,

the revs were going up and the car was not going any faster, then all of a sudden it bites and jults you back.

the exhaust was popping (which sounded way cool) but it was the sound of trouble.

then the engine management yellow warning light came on.

the problem was getting worse and worse and i could only reach about 40 mph while the exhaust was popping.

took it to VW and they said it was the coil, they said it was common for this vehicle at this time of year and they had already changed them for 2 different cars that day!!

did the job straight away and didnt charge a penny as its still under 3 years old.

has any one else had this as they made it out to be well common, 3 in 1 day!

if this hasnt happened to anyone else, if the car starts doing what mine did, you know not to worry, its a simple prob to fix

on my 1.2 they replaced each one at least twice... some reason my problem still persisted they had the car in and out for weeks and couldn't figure out what it was. This was about this time last year. Any how my resolution was to trade it in for a GT.

Wonder if the new owners ever had the problem and if VW managed to rectify it in the end.
