I wanted to do a similar thing to the polo for the show last year - even got the vinyl cut and the door plates done with 97 on em now I've seen someone else do it I'm gutted but it's a nice job he made of it!!!!
77 is the year of the car same as 97 in my case!!!

i don't mean to sound controversal but am i the only person that'd feel embarresed to actually drive a car all labeled up like a le mans car, obviously for a show it'd look cool or maybe i'm just boring

Nope - it's not controversal (sp) the wonderfull thing about the world we live in we all breathe the same air but can have totally different opinions and outlook on life and be free to voice them (provided you respect the opinions of others)
