i beat 2 golf gti's!

Post by GMANGTI »

1st golf, 1.8 gti mk4 non turbo! (one of the early ones i think)i was on my way home and pulled up to some traffic lights and this silver highly modded gold gti pulled up nxt to me. Looked as though he wanted a race so i thort i'd have a go for a laf, i was 3 up in my polo gti, and he had one passenger. we pulled away from the lights and i totally annialated (however you spell that?) him! i just kept pulling away from him, was awsome. he then decided to have another go on 2 more sets of lights and i did exactly the same. he wound down his window and said ''f*$king hell mate, fairplay'' lol

2nd golf, my freinds mk4 gti turbo 150bhp, standstill on the start of the dualway, side by said, then floored it, i pulled away accelerating in front of it, till we hit 70mph and it slowly went past me. i slowed at 80mph (5 points on my licence)
i think the power to weight ratio of the 2 cars are pritty much even, though the extra torque of the 1.8 turbo allowed it to take me at 70mph!

good fun tho! god these little gti's surprise people!

My Bro has the 1.8 20v golf and the polo p***'s on it big time!!

Also as hes a member of uk-mkivs i no a few turbo golfs and have had a little burn up with few beat a 210bhp one and the owner couldnt believe it! (but he also got toasted by his mates 2.0 mondeo lol!)

They aint that quick to be honest fellas! unless you mod um very highly!

Did anyone see Top Gear where Clarkson raced the Golf GTi Anniversary edition (I think) against a Rover 25 and a Skoda Octavia I think, and the Golf came in last!

Yep

Mk4 Gold GTis are all sluggish, some more than others, but if you want a proper one get a mk3 or even the new mk6
