away from the smelly hands issue (i get that also) i had the same problems with filling nup with diesel, it once took me soooo long to fill up that the pump timed out!!!
the bloody lever was clicking off every 2 seconds or so, even when i put very light pressure on the handle!
god i was sooo annoyed!!
i now don't put the nozzle into the car so far and it has since been fine!! fills up nice and quick!!

Found out how to fill it up normally now!

I think I've cracked the slow filling up thing.

For the past month I've been filling it up with the nozzle not put all the way in - and noticed that the diesel foams up and rises - which causes the pump to cut out because it thinks the tank is full.. Thats why previously I kept having to trickle the fuel in.. basically waiting for the foam to go down before pressing the handle slowly. Anyway.. today, I noticed a little button/nub on the right of the inside of the hole you stick the nozzle in.. I pressed the nozzle up against that and noticed a whirring noise.. this seems to stop the foaming - which means the deisel pours in a full speed! Was soo happy - I filled the thank up to the brim for the first time ever.. Previously I never had the patience, and always stoped after 5 minutes or about 15 ltrs..
