Few Mk3 questions

Post by Tee »

Bonjour people finally brought a polo coupe today I'll post some pics up later, I needed to know firstly can you get base-plates to put m3 style side mirrors onto a mk3 polo and if so where from? Also where should I get the mirrors from? I'm also after a de-badged front grille, do you think I should get chrome or plastic; the car is black, again where can I get this from, finally what steering wheel will fit I'm after the 3 spoke momo style do I need any kind of kit to fit this? Mucho appreciate any information.

Please don't get M3 mirrors. So, so common and they look s**t in my opinion - purely because it's a round/aerodynamic shape on a wedge/box shaped car. No good. Too big as well.

I'd go for a black de-badged grille, try ebay, 2modified.com (has his own section on Club Polo too) etc.

You'll need a matching boss kit to fit an aftermarket steering wheel like that. Can't provide any more info. though. Sorry.

Eh yeah!

As mark said, the debadged grill can be purchased form lots of places now, there's a few on ebay for a decent price.

What colour car do you have? I'd advise the black debadged grill, I've never seen a chrome one looking that good TBH.

For aftermarket steering wheels you will need the 'Boss' kit to go along with the steering wheel, these can cost £80+ http://www.europerformance.co.uk/ is a good place to get what you need. They have a boss for the mk3 polo :D

in my opinion i wouldn't go for M3 mirrors, but thats my opinion, not urs, you can do what you like  .

however, i was after some base plates for some DTM mirrors i have. halfords didn't list a base plate for these and as far as i'm aware, they use the same kind of baseplate! (i could be wrong). so it would have to be universal ones and make them fit! which sometimes looks a bit lame! :?

as for what badge-less grill to get, its all dependent on what your plans are for the rest of the car, for exmaple, if your thinking of having other bits of chrome around the car, then a chrome grill may suit it, however, if ur not using chrome anywhere else, then i'd say a black one!

also, i beleive the chrome grills are plastic coated in a chrome type paint stuff! dependant on quility and the flexibility of the paint, the paint could crack and flack if/when the grill flexes!

hope thats of some help to you!

regards
Doug

I hear what your saying about the mirrors I just feel the originals are too s**t basically, I'll have to see about them, as for the grille there's a few on ebay so I'll have to bid on a black plastic one when I see it

i don't like the original mirrors but it's an old square car, with square mirrors...if you put something smooth and round on either side it tends to look out of place, plus m3 mirrors have become a bit of a stereotype for chavs. i think i might just colour code my mirrors when i get a chance or possibly try some scirocco mirrors.
