Rear valance removal

As some of you may know my car was rear ended. I was meaning to get the rear and front valances sprayed to bodycolour. As i will have a complete new bumper, valance, and trim, i want to remove the existing valance, so that i can just say it dropped off as it was loose, and get another one

. Meanwhile ill keep the old one as it is not destroyed and get that sprayed.

It will save me about Â£40

meaning i can just by another front one, as i want to keep the original stuff. However, im having difficulty figuring out how to carefully remove it. Does anybody know how this is done? can you provide me with a description please?!?!?

like?

there is about 3 or 5 screws on the inside of the rear valance and u gotta get under to unscrew them
then its a case of popping it off the bumper carefully (you can see how many clips are on there from the pic of the bumper

rear one is here with the front valance

Cheers dude, i managed to get the torx screws out, but its having a bit of trouble to come off through the clips

Do you just have to continue pulling it with gentle force? thing is because of accident the bumper is shaking so am a bit scared the whole lot will come off as the bumper has ripped in the middle

maybe try and get a screw driver on the inside of the bumper and squeeze it out?

gentle force on where it is clipped in does the job like

Okay...sorry for awakening a dead post but, im now stuck on how to remove the front splitter. There are several black round plastic things underneath, how do i get them out?

Also near the grille part. I dont mind damaging the splitter but dont want to damage the bumper so if anyone knows how this part comes out that would be great.

going back a while here. but you pull grills off that would be round the fogs. i think there are about 5 screws or so underneath. then there are 2 just inside the fogs either side of the radiator.
then it just pulls off with force like the rear one.

Okay so finally got round to doing the back one. came off in one pull, but when it came to fitting the rear one back on it is bloody hard and my fingers are now proper hurting

Did you have to use lots of force, i mean alot of brutal force!!!. I got the sides in no problem, but the middle part still is sticking out, and ive given it so much force im a bit scared to force it more incase the bumper breaks. Ive tried hitting it in, pushing it in, and using a rubber mallet too

still dont go in. I cant put my hand at the back and pull it from there like i did to the sides either as its sealed up with no room from the middle. Its in about 95% in but still needs to be pushed in.

Im thinking of letting the bodyshop do the front one now as its quite hard. Is this one any easier than the back or is it just as hard??

this is why i hate vw so much! the cars are way too well put together! and no, there isnt an easier way that i know of. mine was painted too, so it was slightly bigger. i wrapped a mallot in a t-shirt and battered my car for a good hour and also used the heel of my hand (bruised it to fcuk though!)
i hate to say it, but the front is alot harder to get back on, very fiddly lining things up
