Battery Cover?
Hi there,
I usually hang around at the UK-MkIVs forum
but I am about to buy a MkIV Polo 16v as a second car.
It is a totally standard 97 R in black.
I have arranged to test drive it tomorrow,
as a final check over is there anything I should look out for?
As a first mod I noticed that where the battery sits is not very
attractive with all the rust. Can anyone recommend a battery cover?
Lets see some pics if possible.
Thanks!

'ello and *Welcome*!
Don't know exactly about a rusty battery, but there certainly are covers available. You could get a OE cover or opt for the 'alloy' type:

Wouldn't know who supplies these in the UK, but they're pretty common so you shouldn't have any problem sourcing one.
Look out for gearbox problems (noise, ginds, etc.) and keep an eye out for bodywork rust. But it's mostly the general things to keep in mind.
Have a look here too:

You'll be glad to know we bought the car.
97R 5 door Diamond Black 1.4 16v
with 67k on the clock and full VWSH.
I am well impressed with it, I spent all day yesterday
cleaning it (clay/HD-Cleanse/Zymol).
The paint work is in good condition, it hadn't been polished
for ages though as the paintwork was really rough, all that
London smog I guess!
The only thing that needs fixing is the CD head unit,
because it doesn't store the radio stations after you
turn the ignition off and also the dash, it seems like there
are two screws underneath the ash tray which
have become detached from the facia.
Other than that all is well!
