Parting with my pride and joy!

Post by andrewg450 »

Hi all,

Just to let you know that I am parting with my Polo 9N 1.2 as I have been offered a Lupo GTI.

Have posted an add in the for sale section. Would like to see the car go to a good home.

If your interested or know anyone who is have a look.

Cheers,

Hi Mate,

Had a test drive in the Lupo on Sunday afternoon. It was great fun toi drive, goes like the wind and handles really well. However the particular car that I was looking at, a 54 Plate, had too many faults for its age for me to be interested in buying it.

The faults were as follows;

- Condensation dripping on me from the sunroof
- Deffective drivers door seal, causing an annoying wind noise at all speeds
- Paint specs, I think, on the steering wheel
- Evidence of a leak in the rear, possibly the door seal again
- Some sort of clutch issue, felt like the release bearing was not releasing fully after letting off the clutch

Above all it was over priced and the dealer was not willing to come and go. It had 14,500 miles on the clock and they wanted £9500. I suspect the car may have been crashed as the engine bay was very clean and the driver's door looked like it was not mounted properly.

If you can find a minter then this car is a blast to drive. Not for me at the moment, as I do a lot of miles. But would defo look at another for a second car.

Hope this helps.

Looks like the Polo could be around a little longer!!

Cheers,

Andy

I notice that you are from Glasgow. I was car shopping the other weekend with a friend and we ended up in Arnold Clark :(

Anyway, it was the Jordanhill branch and I noticed they had a red Lupo GTI for sale on their second hand section. It was red and didn't look quite 100%. Was this the car you were looking at?

Just being nosey!

Yeah it is the car at Arnold Clark.

The salesman was not prepared to come and go on the price, so I just walked away. Shame really!

I'm not surprised. They didn't offer my friend a good deal and they have never ever been able to offer me a good deal. The last time I went in to get some prices to change car, the "best" offer they could come up with was an offer of £1500 less on the value of my car than I ended up getting elsewhere.

Sadly, I now travel up to Dundee to avoid Arnold Clark and get good deals and good service on VW.

There are lots of good Lupo GTIs about so you will find one if you still want one. I'd avoid red though as it looks much better in silver, black or blue.

Just realised there are a lot of "goods" in this post :?

Yip,

It is a pity what a strangle hold they have on the market up here. Some of the deals are good, but the salesmen are pretty unhelpful and you feel like a statistic rather than a customer.

Had better experience at two independent Honda dealerships recently. Both offered test drives and none were pushy. The good car dealer lives on!

If your friend is still looking for a car, I am selling my Polo. Had it three years, it got a good amount of miles on it, but it is sound and a good honest car. Its in the for sale section or let me know and I'll PM you more details.

Cheers,

Andy
