65 profile would also give you a slightly larger rolling radius, but I wouldn't think it's enough to make your speedo underread, as they normally overread quite a way by default.

The best thing to use on a 165 is a 55 profile, but they're hell to ge hold of.

Either way, shouldn't be a drama.

cheers kris, hope they look good too, not too sure if they'll look great because my car isn't lowered and they're a lil bit "bling" lol my wheels have taken a bit of a back seat at the moment, think i gotta replace my fuel tank so i've gotta check that out at the weekend, i'm still hoping to get my wheels finished this weekend though  so should have them on in the next few weeks as long as everything goes okay.

get low pros otherwise it will look dodgy [balloon tyres!] and wont handle as well. 55 or 50 would be ideal, when you lower the car then it will look awesome. Bigger tyres make the wheels look too small and will throw your speedo out. You can get low pros cheap off the internet these days aswell!!

165/55/14 is the right size if you want to keep the rolling radius correct.
Mytyres.co.uk only list Hankook Ventus in this size @ around £32 each which isn't bad.
Other than that 165/60's will slightly increase the r.rad. but not enough for you to notice, and there are far more makes to choose from.
BTW, I run 165/65/13 Toyo's on my MK2 hatch and have been very pleased with their performance.
In my opinion, I wouldn't fit anything wider than a 175 tyres on a MK1/2/3 Polo as the front suspension design is pretty poor to say the least! However, a heavily modded G40 does need 195/45's just to gain some traction (along with AW Tracksport wishbones!)

BTW Adam, your breadvan looks lovely. Great colour and those wheels look very nice too.

Cheers breadman, i hadn't thought about 165/60's although just checked and the best tyre i could get for that price would be firestone f700's so i think i'll just stick with the 165/65 for now with the pirelli or toyo. black circles do them for bout £29 per corner, and i'm not that bothered bout the looks really, it's on stilts still and it's a breadvan so it's not gonna make much difference.

Thanks anyway people, i'll let you all know as soon as i get them on there, as i said before though i've gotta replace my fuel tank so it's had a little bit of a delay. :(
