What Car did you consider when you purchased GTI

The car I considered at the time I got the Polo (4 years ago) was a Ibiza Cupra 1.8T sadly being 22 at the time the insurance was just silly. I was paying Â£650ish for the Polo and the cheapest quote for the Ibiza was 1.3k. I think the Polo is the better built and looking car but it would have been nice to have the 1.8T engine in it !!

Not the same, and possably not relevent, but the girlfiend and I fell in love with a mk5 Polo, but needed a new car.
Took her to see the mk6 but the Golf size of the thing meant that we bought the Lupo.

I didn't consider any other car, I saved up for 2 years for my GTi. My next car has to be better than my polo, in spec & looks and rarity. Only thing close is an audi S3.
