Does it always need help to start or is it an intermittent problem? Mine had an issue where it sometimes wouldn't start. It happened once and I left it about 10 minutes and tried again, fired first time! Thought nothing more of it until about 2 months later when the same thing happened again, wouldn't start. Waited 10 mins but still 'nout. Luckily I was at home so I called VW Assistance out and their techie diagnosed a faulty ignition switch. Since that was replaced, its been fine!

When my car wasn't starting, it would go to stage II on the ignition (dash lights, blowers, headlights, radio all working) but as soon as you went to start the car, everything stopped including the blowers :?

I had that problem with my old polo. It turned out to be a dodgy brake light switch. The switch wasnt releasing properly and the lights were staying on and draining the battery!!

Hope you get it sorted soon
