Am I weird?

Post by Speedlaw »

I've been (cautiously) hinting my g/f that I like those carry-everything-on-the-roof things, you know, those Thule bars. Help me find the correct word please, this is sad.

She thinks it sucks, looks stupid, etcetera. I think it adds to the look of a modified car, and can work well when applied to a very low clean dub, giving it a 'I drive this car every day' look. It just looks cool, IMO. Here's an example:

of Jason's Jetta. I think it rocks. I am actually thinking of getting some, and then just drive around with them, carrying nothing. :D

Weird, or just different?

If you fit them, I have been told that you will use more fuel.

deffenatly wierd and there called roof racks/bars (in french "barres de toit") and i think yhey only suit the larger dubs cos on a polo it just makes the car look higher and odd

Thanks, that's the word I've been looking for, Roof Racks. You're probably right in saying it'll look worse on a small car, hadn't thought about that yet.

I'll have another chat with the missus, perhaps if I can get a set dead cheap it'll be worth it. I think I like it, because it's a 'lifestyle' add-on, instead of a motorsport touch that for instance spoilers or wheels add.

Josh- I've heard that too. It sounds reasonable, as the bars destroy the cars aerodynamics. Fuel consumption could go up by as much as 10%. I'd save it for fotoshoots or gtg's then eh!

Nah, she's okay with modding it. Loved it when it got dropped! So no problems there..... But I'm more worried you lot will mock me! Anyway, still have this in the back of my mind, more important stuff first.
