Resistors

Post by aldo10 »

am sure we have all heard about these resistors that cost next to nothing and claim to give you an extra 10 bhp which i am lead to believe they do. they seem rather simple as all they do is tell the ecu the air coming in is colder than it really is giving you better accel etc. i prob wouldnt put one in my car but was wondering if anyone has and if they could give you any problems?? am still saving up for the remap

Never known anyone with one fitted to their car, but didn't you ask about this a few weeks back?

clicky

I know you kinda got shot down in flames for asking about them, but IMO the advice you were given is pretty good. The GTi has a highly tuned (for a factory lump) engine already and using one of these resistor things just fools the car into taking on more fuel or tricking it into thinking that the air is colder... won't this cause damage in the long term?

I wouldn't do it mate. JM2PW, of course

i agree which is why i wouldnt put one in my gti, not worth the risk, and yes i did ask about them but i cant figure out how they could damage the engine i am looking for someone who knows alot about it to tell me how it can do damage i can only think that it aint good to confuse the fcuk out the ecu
